Joanna Bottesi,
Barn Manager and Advanced Trainer

Joanna BottesiGreen Acres Equestrian is proud to welcome Joanna Bottesi as their new barn manager and advanced trainer, effective July 12, 2010.

Joanna comes with an extensive and exceptional background in horse care and barn management. Her involvement in direct and assistant barn manager roles covers a nine year span. She is skilled in recognizing and treating equine illnesses and injuries, and has the insight of when to seek veterinary assistance. From administering emergency shots and wormers to show braiding and clipping, her broad knowledge encompasses it all. Her excellent record keeping skills for farrier, veterinarian, and other appointments for the welfare of the horses, round out her array of abilities. References describe Joanna as a “leader among people”, and affirm that she would never turn a blind eye to anything in the barn. Her love of horses and her organized, immaculate, and detailed nature make Joanna perfectly suited for her destined career in equine management.

Also a very talented equestrian, Joanna has been riding for almost 18 years in the disciplines of hunters, equitation, jumpers, and basic dressage. She has shown in both local and A circuit shows, and has recently been in the top ribbons in local Adult Equitation and Adult Medal classes, all in the northeast. She brings over nine years of experience with her, for training young or green horses, along with rehabilitating horses and bringing them back to work. She has gained particular expertise with thoroughbreds off the track. Her teaching experience includes beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders, both children and adults. She has organized successful barn shows, as well as taken her students to many local shows.

Joanna prides herself in practicing an individualized approach for both teaching students and training horses, since she is of the strong belief that every person and every horse learns in a unique way. When it comes to safety, Joanna is highly conscientious, and never asks a rider to try something they are not yet ready for. With all riders and horses, she works on the basics first, as she feels that without a solid foundation, they will have a hard time down the road.

Previous long term clients describe Joanna as an honest, even tempered, and well liked trainer and instructor. They additionally portrayed her as an independent hard worker, who never starts a project she doesn’t finish. Lastly, another client depicted her as incredibly horse wise, trustworthy, dependable, and very caring.

In 2008, Joanna became certified by Equissage for Equine Sports Massage Therapy, as her way of giving back to our equine partners.
